31 Days of Music – Day 8

Today’s offering is from the biggest selling single from a British female singer, Cilla Black. Cilla had 2 number 1 hits in the UK, first with this song, “Anyone Who Had A Heart”, and her next single “You’re My World”

During her life, she never lost her Liverpool accent. She died at her home inĀ Estepona after a fall on 1st August 2015 at the age of 72. My friend Eileen and I watched her funeral (Eileen is also from Scotland Road where Cilla came from) which was both sad and funny too. She is buried in Allerton Cemetry in Liverpool on 20th August, where my paternal grandparents and uncle, along with other members of my family are buried. The next day her album “The Very Best of Cilla Black” went to number one in the UK Charts.

Bronze lifesize statue of Cilla outside where the original Cavern Club was in Matthew Street, Liverpool. The original Cavern was demolished in 1973.
