2021 – We Made It

Happy New Year

Well, we made it, we’re here. 2021, here we come, ready to charge and take life to its full, well, maybe tomorrow we’ll start.

Last night we “brought in the new year” twice. First was in Paris at a virtual concert given by Jean Michel Jarre at Notre Dame, which really was the best of the two, as the UK new year was just the bongs of Big Ben and the TV watching the Elizabeth Tower clock, yes exciting hey! NOT!

We did have a lovely bottle of red which J at work got me for my birthday. Smooth, and almost went down like water. M had a Guinness and I had a few Gins, so it wasn’t a drunk night, thankfully LOL. When midnight hit the “Spanish Villa” across from us decided to let off lots of fireworks, which I have to admit, they were really good. Our neighbours from a few doors down came out to watch the fireworks, and all at once turned to our house and waved, that made me wave back and brought a smile to my face. Maybe it was a sign to a better year ahead, or more likely, they were all drunk and saw me at the window.

We decided to have a lazy day today, however, I started to strip the Christmas lights from the windows, then M bought in the tree decoration boxes, and next thing all the decorations and the tree was stripped and all boxed away. Tomorrow we will take the tree physically down and box it up for this year. Each year we say we will wait till 12th night, and each year we never make it past new years day.

I have not really bothered with the whole resolutions as they get broken usually by the 2nd. My usual trim down after Christmas will begin, but I guess that goes for most people.

All that remains for me to say to you all is Happy New Year, and may 2021 be a better year for all of us.

2019 End

A new year and decade. The 10’s have been up and down, and especially this year more downs than ups. But, we managed to survive, and hope and trust that 2020 will be a better year for us, and things will get back on track again.

Every year we make a joke about making punch for the first footers arriving for a new year party at our house. A party that only ever has us and the dogs in attendance. We are not party people, well, not these days that is. The first footers joke comes from “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme” which was a sitcom on BBC. I found the episode and thought you may want to see it.

So, with no further ado, I hope you all, wherever you all are have a fun and safe New Year, and that 2020 is a great year for you!

Happy New Year

Well, we made it, we are here in 2019, and thank god it’s here. No more eating empty calories, no more booze, not that we drank much at all, but boy did we eat, far too much. Even last night we had a Chinese takeaway, and it was nothing enjoyable, to be honest. We ended up feeling bloated and rotten. So, we only had a Guinness and a Baileys, and could not face another thing.

Last night we should have been celebrating like the rest of the planet, but no, I fell asleep about 9:30 on the sofa, woke up an hour later needing my bed. I didn’t go to bed but watched the rest of a film Mark was watching, and then went to bed just after 11pm. But, wouldn’t you know, I could not sleep, so I read until just after midnight. Talk about party people, we live the fast life here haha.

So, 2019. I have only one thing in mind I want to do, and that is to drop this extra weight off me. I weighed myself and I am 14 stone 7 pounds. I have the build to carry it, but I do have a bull look about me, in that, my belly does not hang over my jeans, just sticks out, bull-like.

So, back to the grindstone from tomorrow, and that is when the diet starts. I am not looking for a miracle, but if any of you out there can grant wishes, I would like a billion pounds sterling in my bank account, then I can hire Tom Hardy’s trainer and get into shape that way.

Anyway, welcome to 2019, and may I wish you all, the very best.
